Environmentally sustainable agriculture: the future of farming
Environmentally sustainable agriculture as a response to modern agronomic challenges
Environmentally sustainable agriculture represents a fundamental pillar for the future of agriculture. It seeks to balance the productive needs of the agricultural sector with environmental protection. In a world where the population continues to grow, projected to reach 10 billion people by 2050, as indicated in the FAO report "The future of food and agriculture, trends and challenges", it is increasingly urgent to adopt practices that ensure both food security and environmental sustainability.
The modern challenges of environmentally sustainable agriculture
Sustainable agriculture must face numerous challenges, including:
- The need to produce more food to meet growing demand.
- Ensuring the safety of products by reducing the use of toxic and polluting substances.
- Combatting climate change and environmental pollution.
- Proper management of non-renewable resources.
- Reducing food waste, which currently represents a significant percentage of global agricultural production.
In response to these challenges, eco-sustainable agriculture aims to adopt practices that enhance crop yield without compromising the ecosystem or future generations. This includes, among other measures, the use of innovative fertilizers such as bioactivators, which improve soil fertility, plant health, and promote biodiversity in agriculture.
The Green Path project
One of the most innovative responses to the challenges of modern agriculture is the Green Path project by Agriges. This initiative aims to develop safe and sustainable solutions to optimize agricultural production while reducing the use of chemical or polluting substances. By collaborating with research institutions, universities, cooperatives, and agricultural companies, Agriges is committed to creating fertilizer products that maximize agricultural outputs, respect the environment, and ensure safe, healthy food for consumers. With this in mind, Agriges is careful to formulate products that respect plant physiology and the soil, whose use can bring benefits not only in the immediate but also in the long term through a continuous supply of beneficial substances for the soil and the organisms that inhabit it.
The underlying idea of Green Path is clear: produce more and produce healthier. This project focuses on two fundamental objectives, which also represent two key challenges of modern agriculture:
- Food security: Ensuring sufficient food supply to feed the global population.
- Food safety: Ensuring that food produced is safe for human consumption, free from contaminants, and sustainable from an environmental perspective.
So, while the former is about food availability, the latter focuses on the quality and safety of the food we consume. As global food demand increases, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that food is not only abundant, but also free of contaminants and produced in a sustainable manner.
The 9th Report from the Observatory on Innovation and Sustainability in Agricultural Production by Agri2000 highlights that consumers are increasingly attentive to the quality of food products, demanding healthy food grown with respect for the environment and local communities. This is a clear signal that sustainable agriculture is no longer a choice but a necessity.
The role of biodiversity in agriculture
Biodiversity in agriculture plays a key role in promoting environmental sustainability. Greater biodiversity enhances crop resilience to environmental stresses such as drought, thermal stress, pests, and diseases. Furthermore, promoting biodiversity improves soil health and reduces the need for synthetic products to protect crops.
Through bioactivators like LIETA-VEG, Agriges aims to improve soil fertility and plant health, reducing the use of synthetic substances and promoting a more eco-sustainable agriculture.
LIETA-VEG: the bioactivator for eco-sustainable agriculture
A key tool developed under the Green Path project is LIETA-VEG, a next-generation bioactivator made entirely from natural raw materials. This brown seaweed-based fertilizer is an innovative product designed to improve long-term soil fertility, stimulate crop growth, and reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers.
Thanks to the patented RyZea and Bpc technologies, LIETA-VEG is able to offer numerous benefits to agricultural crops. RyZea technology utilises the bio-activating properties of brown algae, such as Ascophyllum nodosum, Fucus spp. and Laminaria spp. to improve nutrient assimilation and stimulate plant growth. These algae, harvested at the time of their life cycle when they are richest in active compounds, provide plants with bio-activating molecules (amino acids, polyamines, vitamins, etc.) that increase their resistance to environmental stresses.
Bpc technology, on the other hand, is based on a microbial consortium that includes plant growth-promoting bacterial strains such as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens AGS282, Bacillus subtilis S3b1, Bacillus licheniformis PS14. These microorganisms selected by Agriges are capable of stimulating plant growth and improving soil quality. In addition, they can reduce the effects of transplanting stress and environmental factors.
Applying LIETA-VEG from the early stages of cultivation and throughout the growth cycle increases plant productivity by:
- Facilitating plant root establishment.
- Helping overcome transplant stress.
- Promoting vegetative growth.
- Improving the quality and uniformity of yields.
- Enhancing resilience to environmental stresses.
- Boosting soil fertility in both the short and long term.
- Stimulating the plant's natural defenses.

In conclusion…
LIETA-VEG is not only an innovative product, but a concrete answer to the needs of modern agriculture. Thanks to its all-natural composition and the use of state-of-the-art technology, this bio-activator offers a solution for improving crop productivity without compromising the health of the environment.
Projects such as Green Path and innovative products such as LIETA-VEG prove that it is possible to produce food in an environmentally sustainable way, reducing the use of chemicals and promoting biodiversity in agriculture. Agriges is committed to providing concrete solutions for environmentally friendly agriculture while ensuring food safety and quality
