Towards vegetable transplanting: a winning strategy
Well begun is half the harvest
The early phase of vegetable cultivation is of crucial importance for the productive success of the crop. As the old saying goes: 'Well begun is half done', this concept applies well to the world of horticulture. In this article, we will explore some winning strategies to ensure a successful start in vegetable cultivation.
First of all, horticultural production in Italy has a significant economic dimension, our country being the second largest producer in Europe. The agro-ecological conditions of regions such as Apulia, Calabria, Sicily, Campania, Latium and Emilia-Romagna are very favourable to the cultivation of vegetable crops, electing these regions as the main production areas in Italy.
But the road to quality production is not without obstacles. Italian farmers have to balance the increasing market pressure for 'low residue' products with the impacts of climate change, which have exposed crops more to production declines in recent years.
Environmental factors are elements that should not be underestimated in order to obtain high quality production, as it has been widely demonstrated how they can affect production by causing yield losses of between 50 and 70%, both as a result of calamities but above all due to stresses such as extreme temperatures, nutrient deficiency, drought and salinity. In addition, last but not least, there is the chronic soil fatigue that occurs in many specialised production areas.
Under these circumstances, Agriges presents a comprehensive and effective strategy with advanced solutions specifically designed to improve vegetable yields, even under adverse conditions, while restoring soil fertility in a sustainable manner.
Agriges' four-step strategy
1. Preparing for the future: revitalising depleted soil with Rycyneem
Agriges recommends Rycyneem, the pre-transplanting solution that, through the addition of the unique heat-resistant bacterial strains Thermoactinomyces spp, Streptomyces spp. and Bacillus spp., contained in the MycrozymTrio technology, locally increases the temperature in the soil ('hot spot' effect), rapidly mineralising the plant material from selected brassicaceae present in the product and increasing the availability of nutrients to the plants. While the mineral component, especially sulphur, provides additional nutrients, the application of the product improves soil pH, reducing alkalinity and mitigating stress.
In addition, the PGPR microorganisms in Rycyneem colonise the soil in order to prepare the edaphic environment for transplanting and to generate a vital and healthy rhizosphere, stimulating crop growth and increasing the stress response of plants.
2. Ryzoclean: the excellence in vegetal extracts from tannins
Once the soil has been reinvigorated, in order for the crop to find an optimal environment for its growth, Agriges recommends Ryzoclean, a product that, through its unique production process, provides tannins of various types, inactivated Saccharomyces crevisiae yeast and meso- and micro-nutrients. The special composition enables the plant to form a strong and healthy root system that can efficiently extract water and nutrients. At the same time, this activates the natural resistance of the crop and supports crop productivity.
3. Draks: first come, first served
Vital and healthy soil, powerful and active roots. An established crop that expresses its growth potential is a more productive crop. After transplanting, Agriges introduces Draks, a product formulated with rhizosphere bacteria and fungi such as Azotobacter chrococcum LS132, Azospirillum brasilense AGS608 and mycorrhizae of the genus Glomus that stimulate root and vegetative growth through the production of auxins, while increasing the root exploration area and enabling greater resource uptake. At the same time, N availability is increased through the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen, helping to support crop growth and development.
4. Nema 300 Plus: guaranteed harvest
Higher yields and quality fruit can only be achieved with a careful strategy from start to finish. To overcome adversities within the growth cycle, Agriges proposes the use of Nema 300 Plus, its unique formulation with fatty acids enables greater resistance to stress. In addition, the fatty acids contained in NEMA 300 Plus act as humectants on the roots, promoting the uptake of nutrient solution from the soil.
Nema 300 Plus supports the crop against adverse conditions such as drought and salinity, allowing the plant to develop a strong root system capable of absorbing the resources naturally available in the soil and supplied with fertilisers, accompanying the crop during the critical flowering and fruiting phases, enabling sustained production and responding to possible pathogens.
Thanks to Agriges' well-established strategy for horticultural crops, it is possible from the earliest stages to obtain plants with optimal well-being and a significantly higher vegetative-productive response.
